Deadlines to Declare or Change Major
- Deadlines to declare a major:
- October 1 of sophomore year, for new freshmen admitted in the fall
- March 1 of sophomore year, for new freshmen admitted in the spring
- Deadlines to change majors:
- October 1 of sophomore year (fall admits) or March 1 of sophomore year (spring admits) for students admitted to a Lerner major (other than Economics (B.A.), Economics Education, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality and Event Experience Management, Hospitality Industry Management or Sport Management; see below for more information about these majors).
- Additional information:
- After the deadline, you may still declare or change your major(s), but will be subject to department admission requirements. You are not guaranteed the major of your choice after October 1/March 1 of your sophomore year.
- Transfer students may apply to change majors, subject to department admission criteria. See the department admission requirements on this page.
- Students admitted to the majors in Economics (B.A.), Economics Education, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality and Event Experience Management, Hospitality Industry Management or Sport Management interested in changing their major to another business area must apply to the department and are subject to department admission criteria. What Is the “Business Undeclared” Policy?
All business undeclared students are required to declare a major within the Lerner College by the deadlines.
How Do I Declare a Major?
Log on to your UDSIS account and submit a request for change of major/minor form. Indicate the major(s) of your choice.
Until the deadline, you are guaranteed your choice of major(s) from the following:
- Accounting
- Business Analytics
- Economics (B.S. or B.A.)
- Economics Education
- Finance
- Financial Planning and Wealth Management
- Fintech
- Global Enterprise Management
- Hospitality and Event Experience Management
- Hospitality Industry Management
- International Business Studies
- Management Information Systems
- Management
- Marketing
- Operations Management
- Sport Management

Students whose major is outside of Lerner College of Business & Economics (BE) will now have limited access to BE courses. Non-Lerner students will only be able to register and complete up to 25 credits in their undergrad careers (excluding the Business Essentials [ACCT 200, BUAD 100, ECON 100 and FINC 200], transfer and test credit). Cross-listed courses owned by BE will also be affected. The information below will help you change to a Lerner College major. Requirements
- Students must confirm space availability in their class year; admission into the major is highly selective due to capacity limitations
- Preference will be given to students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher; however, students with a demonstrated record of involvement in entrepreneurship may be considered on a case by case basis
- Completed 12 credits at the University of Delaware
- Completed ENTR 350/BUAD 350 with a C- or better
- An application and interview are required
