Lerner Executive Mentoring Program
The Lerner Executive Mentoring Program matches Lerner students with executives whose professional backgrounds are complementary to the students’ career objectives. Mentorships have resulted in an increase in student confidence in entering the workforce, expansion of networks and overall professional growth. Students are matched 1:1 with mentors at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters (September and February timeframes).
This is not an internship program. Student mentees should not expect to receive an internship or job offer through this program.
Student mentees will get out of the mentoring relationship what they put into it!
Eligibility
Sophomore students through Graduate/MBA students in a Lerner College major who have two or more semesters of classes remaining are eligible to participate in this program. Students have two opportunities during the year to register, as follows:
- In the late spring to be matched in the program in September, and
- In the late fall to be matched in the program in February
How to Get Involved
Students can register to be matched 1:1 with a mentor by completing the Student Registration Form.
Goals of the Program
Through monthly conversations with their mentor, student mentees will:
- Receive guidance toward professional goals through graduation and beyond
- Focus on their professional development and growth
- Build and strengthen their professional networks
- Prepare for entering the workforce
Commitment & Expectations
- Complete the Lerner Executive Mentoring Program online registration
- Work with your mentor to establish specific goals and objectives for the academic year
- Have a meaningful conversation with your mentor at least once a month
- Return emails and phone calls from your mentor within 24 hours
- Review mentoring resource documents available on the Lerner Career Services website and shared by the program manager
- Complete surveys to help measure success outcomes
- Contact the program manager when questions or concerns arise
